Why do continuing education with an occupational therapist?

To develop your knowledge and your skills and to learn strategies and tools to better support the baby/ child/teen:

About developmental concerns related to:

 

  • sensory-motor, social and perceptive-motor skills of the baby, the preschool child and the student
  • preschool-related skills (cutting, coloring, drawing, pre-writing, etc.)
  • school-related skills (organization of materials, strategies for students with difficulties in their learning in different subjects such as mathematics, language/handwriting/reading, use of computer/tablet, etc.)
  • autonomy in academic life, self-care skills and domestic skills during the transition from teenager to young adult

About difficulties or diagnoses including:

  • motor difficulties: fine motor skills and gross motor skills as they are part of everyday life
  • sensory difficulties
  • attentional difficulties
  • behavioural isssues
  • learning difficulties
  • overall development delay
  • writing difficulties
  • etc.

Three formats:

Continuing Education Format

Continuing education is a learning process that enables a learner to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform his or her job. Training can be offered on site or by videoconference. Continuing education services with coaching meetings to help integrate learning into practice are also available.

Conference Format

Formal presentation at conferences on various topics related to the development of the baby, child or teenager having difficulties in participating in daily activities at home, at school or in their community.

Workshop Format

A short practical presentation on a specific subject including useful strategies and a question period to integrate the information into your work life.

For example:

Workshop on fine motor skills issues commonly seen in kindergarten students and how to intervene

Workshop on disturbing behavior in the classroom: is it behavioral or sensory? And how to intervene.
